Columbia City Mayor Ryan Daniel Proclaims September 7th-14th Direct Support Professionals Week

Columbia City Mayor Ryan Daniel signed a proclamation on Friday proclaiming September 7th through September 14th 2014 Direct Support Professionals week.

The work of Direct Support Professionals helps individuals with developmental disabilities to live meaningful and successful lives.  A Direct Support Professional provides essential support to help keep an individual with disabilities connected to their families and the community in which they live.

Direct Support Professionals are the primary providers of publicly funded long term support and services for thousands of individuals in Indiana.  There is a documented critical and growing shortage of direct support professionals.  Passages, Inc. a local non- profit employs over 120 Direct Support Professionals.

Passages, Inc. staff was on hand with Mayor Daniel at the signing of the proclamation in his office in downtown Columbia City.
